Honorable Rolando T. Acosta to hear
Kimmel v. State of New York
New York, NY (March 19, 2017) - The Dominican Bar Association would like to recognize an important moment in history taking place on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. On this day, founding member of The DBA, the Honorable Rolando T. Acosta (Associate Justice, Appellate Division, First Department) will be the first Dominican Judge to sit by designation in the highest court of New York State. Judge Acosta will join NYS Court of Appeals Associate Judges, the Hon. Jenny Rivera and Hon. Michael Garcia, to hear the case Kimmel v. State of New York.
“Judge Acosta is a great leader in the Dominican and Latino legal community and The DBA is incredibly proud of his accomplishments throughout his career. We look forward to celebrating future examples of diversity in the judiciary, particularly with our Latino jurists, and excited to see Judge Acosta join other Latino leaders Judge Rivera and Judge Garcia.” Vianny M. Pichardo, President of The Dominican Bar Association.
Oral argument in the case will be available for viewing on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 2:00pm.
We encourage our members and friends to be part of this notable occasion. The DBA would also like to applaud Chief Judge DiFiore for her leadership in the New York State Court of Appeals.
