This community outreach committee organizes activities to implement the purposes of the Association relating to community service, including the organization of legal workshops, Know-Your-Rights discussions, donation drives and more. This committee welcomes lawyers with less than five years experience and recent law graduates. The committee organizes fun and informative events that will help the new lawyer discover different areas of law and connect them with experienced attorney mentors.

This committee seeks to strengthen relations between the Association and leaders in the business, government, legal and other communities relating to corporate law. Earlier this year the committee hosted mock interview sessions and a panel which included the Dechert LLP recruiting team.

The purpose and mission of the Immigration and Nationality Law committee is to (A) promote the interests of DBA members who practice immigration and nationality law through professional development; (B) Promote the delivery of competent, ethical and lawful immigration services; (C) Educate our members on latest trends and best practices in immigration and nationality law and support their efforts to stay on top of the ever changing immigration landscape; (D) Educate our community members on the practical aspects of immigration law and procedures; and (E) Serve as a platform/forum to discuss the present-day issues of the practice of immigration.
The Immigration and Nationality Law committee is responsible for offering educational programs and seminars, creating networking opportunities, building strategic partnerships with other organizations and engaging in outreach with the immigrant community in NYC on issues of relevance to them.

This committee shall (A) assist the Treasurer with his or her duties generally, (B) keep track of and report to the Board on all of the Association’s filings with government regulatory offices, including the Internal Revenue Service, and (C) perform such other tasks as the Board may request.

The committee members work with the corresponding secretary and the president to edit and create informative posts for all social platforms. This includes creating event flyers and editing video clips. Training is provided.

This committee assists the Association with all functions undertaken by the Association which affect Women attorneys. In the past, the committee has organized events in areas of law where women are underrepresented and skill-based events on personal money management.

This committee aims to mentor and support foreign attorneys with admission to a state bar in the United States. It also maintains and continues to build relationships with legal and judiciary academic institutions in the Dominican Republic.

This committee conducts activities aimed at implementing the purposes of the Association relating to youth outreach, including the organization of the Association’s Law Day events, attending other events for youth, and performing such other tasks as the Board may request.

This committee is responsible for identifying and selecting candidates for the Association’s scholarship awards. The committee members review applications submitted by eligible law students and meet to select the final recipients.

This committee shall be chaired by the Scholarship Gala Chairperson and shall be responsible for, among other duties specified by the Scholarship Gala Chairperson, (A) identifying and selecting candidates for the Association’s scholarship awards, (B) identifying and selecting honorees for the Gala, (C) generally planning the Gala; and (D) performing such other tasks as the Board may request.

This committee shall (A) identify and recruit eligible candidates to join the Association, (B) keep track of and report on the status of the Association’s membership, and (C) perform such other tasks as the Board may request.

This committee, consisting of the immediate past president as chairperson and those former directors and officers of the Association as may volunteer to join the committee, shall (A) serve as a consultative and advisory body to the Board of Directors by providing valuable input on matters related to the purposes of the Association with respect to which the Board requests guidance, and (B) work closely with the other committees to further that committee’s objectives.
