Vanessa Cabrera Deleon was born in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic. She entered the United States at the age of three and has been a resident of the Bronx for many years. She interned in several non-profit organizations and worked in the private sector for several years. Long after becoming the Senior Litigation Supervisor for a substantial team of paralegals at Youman, Madeo & Fasano, LLP, Ms. Cabrera went on to work for the public sector. Shortly after receiving her Master's Degree and Certificate in Public Policy & Administration at St. John's University, Ms. Cabrera was hired as a Community Assistant at the Bronx District Attorney's Office in the Special Victims Division. In her role, Ms. Cabrera continues to help undocumented immigrants and women who have been the victimized by sex trafficking or Domestic Violence activities. Under the purview of prosecutors, Ms. Cabrera also assists in investigating cases with NYPD and ACS related to child abuse. Ms. Cabrera Deleon hopes to become a prosecutor upon completion of her Doctorate and has future plans of returning to her native country in order to help address some of the tumultuous difficulties in education, child trafficking, and wealth inequality.
