Shaeleigh "Shae" Severino is a skilled Gen Z, Afro-Latinx, LGBTQIA+ woman with a disability, who is a campaign operative that can be flexible in multiple areas of communications, policy research and development, and successful experience in social media presence. She has experience in campaign management, communications, policy, and governmental affairs, field recruitment and retainment, and movement building with expertise in the principles of managing multiple employees, recruitment, and retention, creating, and overseeing outreach plans that lead with diversity, and inclusion. She has strong leadership ability and has demonstrated results when working on a team.
Shaeleigh “Shae” Severino is the Executive Director of the Afro-Latino Association for Policy and Advocacy (ALAPA). The only Afro-Latino organization in NYC. Through ALAPA, she plans to support BIPOC, women, and young people who challenge the status quo and put people first. Prior to joining ALAPA, she ran as a New York City Council candidate and was the first Gen Z, Afro-Latinx, LGBTQIA+ woman with a disability to run on a bold platform in the only Republican district in Queens, NY. She also worked with law firms across New York City as an advocate and paralegal for over five years.
Severino is a graduate of a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics, a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies, and a minor in Sociology from St. John’s University. She is enrolled in the Five-Year Baccalaureate/Master’s Dual Degree Program, in which she will be receiving a Master’s degree in Government and Politics in 2022 with the trajectory of receiving her J.D and Ph.D. in the future.
